Mike Krieger, Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Anthropic, and Luis von Ahn, co-founder and CEO of Duolingo, are joining Figma’s board of directors. Mike and Luis are visionary leaders who have built and shaped products used by billions of people around the world every day. We’re so excited to welcome them to the Figma board.
Mike Krieger
As CPO of Anthropic, Mike oversees product engineering, product management and product design efforts. In 2010, he co-founded Instagram, where as CTO he scaled the app’s technical infrastructure to support its growth from a few million to more than 1 billion monthly active users. More recently, Mike co-founded and built Artifact, a personalized news app that was acquired by Yahoo.
“Mike is an ‘n of 1’ product leader who brings both big vision and pixel-level craft to everything he builds,” said Figma CEO, Dylan Field. “Mike was an early angel investor in Figma, and I’ve always enjoyed discussing the future of design, product and AI with him. I’m looking forward to Figma benefiting from his perspective as well.”
Luis von Ahn
As the CEO of Duolingo, which he co-founded in 2011, Luis has been the driving force behind the language-learning platform’s growth and the fun, approachable design that makes it stand out. Duolingo has over 100 million monthly active users and offers lessons and education in more than 40 languages. Before Duolingo, Luis co-created CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA, creating a new crowdsourced security system for the internet.
“For a long time I’ve had a founder crush on Luis,” said Field. “Duolingo’s dedication to design and craft is exemplary, and Figma has learned so much from Duolingo as a customer. This all stems from Luis who famously sits with his design team, and despite his computer science background, is a champion for design across the industry.”
